Weight has to earn its place
An accessory that feels trivial at the trailhead becomes irritating after ten miles. The goal is not to carry your entire drone cabinet. The goal is to protect the aircraft, produce the planned images, and return with enough reserve for navigation, weather, and the hike itself.
Drone choice
Compact aircraft dominate hiking because they reduce both drone weight and case size. The practical advantage is not merely grams; smaller kits are more likely to come out of the backpack when the light gets good.
Battery count

Wildlife
Do not use the drone to harass or approach wildlife. Give nesting areas and animals substantial space and follow local protections. A telephoto ground camera is often the better wildlife tool.
Power budget
Your phone is also navigation, emergency communication, camera, and sometimes the drone display. Do not drain it casually to recharge accessories. Keep communications/navigation reserve separate.
Packing order
Keep the drone accessible enough that setup does not require unpacking the whole bag, but protect it from water bottles, trekking poles, stoves, and metal objects.

How to avoid buying the wrong version
Drone accessories are unusually model-specific. Two aircraft with nearly identical names can use different batteries, hubs, propellers, filters, cases, or controller mounts. Before buying, match the complete aircraft/controller name and generation, not just the product family. If a listing says “fits Mini” or “fits Mavic” without the exact model, keep looking.
Compatibility is especially important for anything that touches the flight system: batteries, props, chargers, gimbal accessories, and radio/controller hardware. A soft case being slightly loose is annoying. A flight battery or propeller being merely “close enough” is a different category of risk.
